Layout team
We come from a wide range of backgrounds, united by the enjoyment of making & playing with trains. We are not highly skilled modellers, but we are not afraid of making mistakes & learning "on the job". We don't want to count rivets... The team comprises Eric, David, Roger, a recent new member Keith, & Tony- (if the others agree possibly a team photo?) Work started on the layout many years ago, with for long periods, Eric working alone. In the last year/eighteen months progress ,with the influx of new team members, has increased tremendously & scenic work has advanced. Many buildings large & small need to be constructed, but we have some cunning plans...The possibility of completion is not fantasy any more! The team has a weekly day time work session in addition to the club night which has bought a better balance of work & chat, although coffee & chocky biscuits consumption has increased exponentially. (Perhaps we should have a Mcvities works on the layout)

HPIM1037.JPG (1336032 bytes) Layout description
We are building a layout which continues to give us lots of fun & we hope will give lots of fun to the general public, when we get round to exhibiting it. Our intention is to have a believable layout, that looks right & on which trains move regularly in a realistic way. Terminus to fiddle yard LMS/GWR branch line set in Gloucestershire in the 30's to 50's. Small station & goods yard based loosely on Dursley. Private sidings serving a factory (Listers) & a quarry add considerable shunting activity to the usually sparse passenger service. However when Listers & other employers have their workers & staff excursions to the Welsh Coast or London, or the Ramblers Association have a special to the town, then the goods yard is over flowing with excursion stock of varying vintage. This also provides an excuse for much larger engines to appear on the layout! The layout has been constructed in 7 sections each 1200mm long X 900mm max for ease of transporting, with a number of detachable scenic sections of 1200mm X 300mm max. The overall dimensions when erected is 8400mm long X 1200mm at its maximum. The layout is operated from two control positions at the front, so that the operators can chat to the general public. There are a further two operators, at the rear to look after the fiddle yard & the quarry siding (I'll get you a drawing)
Availability for exhibitions
At the moment we are not seeking invites, but we hold out the hope that for the 2007/8 season exhibiting at a local one day exhibition might be possible to gain some exhibiting experience; by that time we should have more rolling stock.. Ask..
